Table of Contents

You can manage the sharing of your ServerTemplates, MultiCloud Images, RightScripts, and Macros with other RightScale accounts.

Settings > Sharing > Index

- -

General information about the sharing group. Click the Members tab to view the objects (RightScripts, ServerTemplates, Macros) that are being shared. You can 'lock' a sharing group to prevent accidental deletion.

Settings > Sharing > Show

Info tab

The Info tab shows general information about your sharing group that you can edit.

  • Browsable By - Defines which RightScale accounts can view components in the sharing group.
  • Importable By - Defines which RightScale accounts can import or subscribe to components in the sharing group.
  • Description - Description of the sharing group.
  • Support Info - The information that's provided will be visible under a "Support" tab for each shared component. We recommend providing relevant support information for any shared component (i.e. phone numbers, web links, emails, etc.). It's important that your users know where they can go to receive additional support.
  • Welcome Message - The welcome message will become visible to a user (inside a dialog box) after a sharing group invitation is accepted. Publishers are always responsible for supporting their shared components, not RightScale.
Settings > Sharing > Show > Info tab

Members tab

The Members tab shows all of the shared RightScale objects/members (ServerTemplates, RightScripts, MultiCloud Images, Macros) of the shared group. When a user accepts the sharing group invitation, these shared objects will appear under the appropriate Shared tabs in their account. Users will be able to clone any shared objects. When you share a macro (for example of a Deployment), you will automatically be asked to also share any referenced ServerTemplates and RightScripts to ensure that the user will also be able to clone and edit those objects. To add an object to a sharing group, change its sharing status under its Info tab from 'private' to the desired sharing group. An object can be shared with multiple sharing groups. Although you can share a HEAD version of an object, it is not recommended. You can also change an object's sharing status under its Info tab.
