Table of Contents

Create a new RDS Parameter Group. Once created, you will not be able to change the name or description.

  • Group name - Name of the parameter group. It must begin with a letter; must contain only ASCII letters, digits, and hyphens; and must not end with a hyphen or contain two consecutive hyphens.
  • Group description - Brief description about the parameter group.
  • Parameter group family - The database software and version running on the DB Instance. Currently only MySQL (mysql5.1) and Oracle (oracle-ee-11.2, oracle-se-1.2, oracle-se1-11.2) engines are supported.
Clouds > AWS Region > RDS Parameter Groups > New

An RDS Parameter Group is a container for engine parameter values that can be applied to one or more DB Instances. Once you create an RDS Parameter Group, you'll be able to specify values for each parameter. Create multiple parameter groups in order to define different sets of parameter values.

A default RDS Parameter Group (e.g. default.mysql5.1) will automatically be created for you if you launch an RDS Instance for the first time (and you haven't already created a parameter group).

Clouds > AWS Region > RDS Parameter Groups > Index

View all of the database engine parameter values that will be applied to all RDS Instances that are created with this RDS Parameter Group.

Action Buttons

  • Reset - Reset all of the parameter values to their original default values.
  • Delete - Delete the RDS Parameter Group. You cannot delete an RDS Parameter Group that's actively being used by a running RDS Instance.
