Table of Contents

Due to RightScale Legacy Platform deprecation, this section covering Amazon Web Services Virtual Private Clouds (VPC) is no longer valid. Please see the Network Manager section for current information on creating and managing AWS VPCs.

  • VPC v2 will only be visible for paid RightScale accounts that have signed up for the AWS VPC service on Amazon.

A VPC has a default security group associated with it. Any instances in the VPC belong to this security group by default. The default security group allows all outbound traffic for instances within the security group but does not allow inbound traffic. All inbound and outbound traffic between instances within the security group can communicate with each other. This security group gets created automatically when the subnet is created and deleted automatically when the subnet is deleted.

In order to change these rules, you will have to edit the default security group:

  • Navigate to Clouds > AWS Region where your VPC exists > Ec2 Security Groups
  • Click on the "default" security group associated with your VPC.
