About Simple Queue Service (SQS)

Amazon SQS is a reliable, highly scalable hosted queue service. The RightScale Dashboard simplifies creating and managing queues for your application.

Important: On Feb 6 2008, Amazon Web Services introduced a second-generation SQS service using API version 2008-01-01. Customers are expected to migrate to Gen SQS by May 6, 2009, the current end-of-life date for Gen 1 SQS. Gen1 and Gen2 SQS Queues are incompatible. Gen 2 tools cannot be used on Gen1 queues. The 'API Generation' field below shows whether a particular queue is Gen1 or Gen2.
