Create Rackspace Cloud Credentials

Cloud credentials are required to upload objects to a storage container or retrieve "private" objects. If you are using ServerTemplates published by RightScale, many of them contain scripts for interacting with various remote object storage services. Before you start setting up deployments you should create user-defined credentials to securely pass the required cloud credentials for Rackspace Cloud Files.

  1. Log into the Rackspace Cloud Control Panel. (
  2. Go to the API Keys section.

  1. Create two new credentials to store your access key values. Note: If you are using Cloud Files in US and UK, you must create two sets of credentials because they are different from each other. Therefore, you should add a suffix at the end of the credential name for identification purposes. (e.g. RACKSPACE_USERNAME_US)
    • RACKSPACE_USERNAME - The username used to log into Rackspace's Cloud Control Panel. (e.g. myuser)
    • RACKSPACE_AUTH_KEY - The Rackspace account API key. Click the Show Key button to view the actual key value. (e.g. 3920f0d3920f0d3920f0d3920f0d3920f)
