Migrate MySQL database from S3

If you already have running MySQL-S3 servers and want to migrate to the MySQL EBS templates, follow the instructions below.  You can also refer to the MySQL Setup Migration: S3 to EBS tutorial for more detailed instructions.

Instructions

  1. Go to your deployment (Manage -> Deployments).
  2. Click the nickname of the MySQL-EBS "master" instance.
  3. Under the Scripts tab, run the DB EBS slave init from non-Master operational script.
  4. Promote the new Slave-DB to Master-DB.   Under the Scripts tab, run the DB EBS promote to master operational script.  (At the end, a snapshot will be taken of the new Master-DB.)
  5. Wait for the snapshot of the new Master-DB to be 100% complete.
  6. Launch additional slave instances.
