Standard Training Options

• Live Kick-Off Call - Weekly live webinar to demonstrate how to build a Deployment in the cloud, from the ground up.  This 2.5 hour live call (offered at 8:30 am  -11:00 am U.S. Pacific Time each Wednesday) will help you grasp the paradigm shift from traditional to cloud computing.  Key cloud computing and RightScale specific terms and concepts are covered as well as showing you how to build Servers in the cloud including creating an automated Scalable Server Array.  The Live Kick-Off is a must for new customers and partners, and we encourage you to send any new hires to this event as well.  (Once you register, you can attend as many times as you wish.)   This is a free call to anyone wishing to learn how to use the RightScale platform and includes a live Q&A session at the end of the call.  Prerequisites: none.

• RightTrack - RightTrack is built into the Getting Started Guide.  It is a free web-based training (WBT) track through general Cloud Computing concepts, RightScale specific concepts and hands-on tutorials.  RightTrack may not cover everything pertaining to the Cloud and RightScale from A...Z, but when you finish this course you'll know most everything from A...T or so!  Further, you'll know where to go and what to do to continue on your learning path.

• RightScale JumpStart - JumpStart is a live Instructor Led course specifically designed to get you up and running FAST on the cloud using RightScale.  It is offered about once a month, usually in Santa Barbara California.  In JumpStart, you will learn RightScale concepts, Dashboard operations, and Best Practices in the Cloud. This course is full of hands-on lab exercises.  JumpStart attendees will gain strong proficiency in RightScale and in cloud computing in general.  You will learn how to automate your entire implementation so that by the end of the 3 days you will be able to spin up servers in the cloud, including self-launching scalable arrays behind high-availability load balancers and how to launch a production deployment from a staging deployment in less then 10 minutes.  Prerequisites: none.  Laptop computer required.

• RightScale Operations - Instructor led training (ILT) course designed primarily for RightScale Partners and Enterprise customers, but available to anyone. This course is delivered in person by RightScale professionals and is designed to last 4 or 5 days.  It starts with RightScale fundamentals and finishes with several advanced topics, delivered in an a la carte fashion, to help the training experience is catered to your specific needs.  This course is lab-heavy, not lecture heavy. The lecture portion only sets up the hands on lab exercises, which are used to solidify the material just presented.  Having an experienced instructor in class helps students work through the labs in a more efficient manner.  This course is usually taught at our training facility in beautiful Santa Barbara California, but can also be delivered on site at your location.

Other Training Options

There are other training options that tend to be more customized in nature as well.  Technical Services and Consulting can provide training on specific topics of interest on a per engagement basis.  We often refer to these as micro trainings.  Micro trainings tend to be technically deeper in nature, and a certain level of prerequisite cloud and RightScale expertise is required.  This includes RightWay, often RightTrack and ideally our fundamentals ILT as well.  As each engagement can be unique, the level of pre-requisite knowledge in order to receive effective micro trainings is gauged on a case-by-case basis.
