Summary Statement

Whether you’re a professional PHP developer, a system administrator, an IT executive or a newbie, you can rely on Zend for the right tools, services and know-how to ensure you unlock the true value of PHP.

ServerTemplates

Zend provides a RightScript that can be used with any RightScale PHP-based ServerTemplates to upgrade them to Zend Server.  You can also use the RightScript by itself as the basis of your own ServerTemplate.

ServerTemplates published by RightScale Partners can be found in the MultiCloud Marketplace.  Go to Design -> MultiCloud Marketplace -> ServerTemplates.  Use the filter options to find correct ServerTemplate(s).   In order to use the ServerTemplate, you must first import it to your local view.

Some Partner ServerTemplates are not designed to launch server instances.  In some cases, the purpose of a ServerTemplate is to provide access to a collection of RightScripts.

The following ServerTemplates can be updated to Zend Server:

PHP App Server v6 RightScale ServerTemplate
PHP App Server v7 (Ubuntu) RightScale ServerTemplate
PHP FrontEnd v7 RightScale ServerTemplate
PHP FrontEnd v8 (Ubuntu) RightScale ServerTemplate
LAMP v4 Developer RightScale ServerTemplate

To upgrade a ServerTemplate to use Zend Server:

  1. If you haven't already done so, import one of the PHP-based ServerTemplates above from the MultiCloud Marketplace to your 'Local' view. (Design -> MultiCloud Marketplace -> ServerTemplates).
  2. Go to your 'Local' view (Design -> ServerTemplates -> View Local), select the ServerTemplate and clone it to create an editable copy.
  3. Under the cloned ServerTemplate's Scripts tab, add the "Zend Server Install v1" RightScript as a boot script from "imported" list.  Place the RightScript right below the PHP install script.
  4. Remove the Apache install and the PHP install scripts.
