New Features

NOTE: This release is part of the infinity lineage.

Windows on SoftLayer

Windows ServerTemplates now support SoftLayer, including support for SoftLayer Object Storage.

Ubuntu 12.04 and CentOS 6.3 support

Our images for all clouds now offer Ubuntu 12.04 and CentOS 6.3 support.

Re-factored Inputs

The Remote Object Store (ROS) related inputs have been re-factored and updated.

New HVM Image for Base ServerTemplate

An additional Cluster Compute image for AWS HVM has been added to the Base ServerTemplate for Windows.

Changed Features

Change to the Database Managers

The location of the database directory (data directory) has been changed from the mount point ( eg: "/mnt/storage") to a directory inside the mount point (e.g: "/mnt/storage/mysql" for mysql database managers, e.g: "/mnt/storage/postgres" for Postgres database managers).

Ephemeral drive support for Azure

Ephemeral drives are supported for Windows Azure.

Rsync and FTP providers added to LWRP repo

The option of pulling app source code via wget from ftp and rsync. It is the same functionality as before, but for these two new sources.

Support for Provisioned IOPS

Support for AWS Provisioned IOPS is available in the Storage Toolbox and Database Manager ServerTemplates. The new input "I/O Operations per Second" allows users to specify input/output operations per second (IOPS) for a volume.

Also included are built-in monitoring and alerts on CPU, memory, and disk.

Key Features:

  • MS Best Practices for disk and database configuration.
  • Cloud-agnostic data storage on dynamic volumes or equivalent.
  • Striped data and log volumes (on supported clouds).
  • Automatically scheduled backups with data consistency.

Known Limitations

HAProxy not Supproted with RHEL 6

HAProxy officially removed from the EPEL repo under EL6 by RedHat on 2.21.13. The "Load Balancer with HAProxy" ServerTemplate will strand using RHEL 6 since the haproxy package is no longer available.

Limit for listing buckets in Google

When listing all of the buckets in a specified project, there is a maximum number that will return. Buckets are listed alphabetically and not chronologically, so the buckets returned are the first 100 in an alphabetical list. For more information, see https://developers.google.com/storag...ods#getservice.

Restore from ROS

When doing a restore from ROS, we recommend setting the "Percentage of the LVM used for data (1)"  input to 50. This does not affect backups, so a system already set to 90% can do a backup without issues. If a secondary restore does fail, set the "Percentage of the LVM used for data (1)" input to 50 on the next server, change the 'Total Volume Size" input accordingly and relaunch.

Bug Fixes

Microsoft SQL sql-server-mirroring/mirroring-state graph missing

It was discovered after launching two MSSQL Principal and Mirror servers in AWS using the Database Manager for Microsoft SQL Server ServerTemplate that "sql-server-mirroring/mirroring-state" is missing, generating the WARNING icon for the five alerts in this ServerTemplate that rely on this graph; "sql-server-mirroring/mirroring-state" should be available. (4501)

Incorrect graphs for the Microsoft SQL SQL ServerTemplate

It was discovered that a principal-mirror pair with the Database Manager for Microsoft SQL Server ServerTemplate were returning incorrect graphs. Few graphs are labeled *_per_sec, but they only go one way: up. Some reset to 0 when SQL Server is restarted. If wmi is returning a total value, we now convert that into 'per_sec' using the Counter type and not Gauge. (4582)

Microsoft Active Directory ServerTemplate fails backups when server is 'Locked'

Continuous backups were failing for locked servers with the Microsoft Active Directory ServerTemplate. (4749)

Microsoft SQL ServerTemplate: "Property Owner is not available for Database..." after restore

When launching a standalone MSSQL server with snapshot backups using the Database Manager for Microsoft SQL Server (v12.11.2-LTS) ServerTemplate in AWS, an error would occur when RDP'ing into the server, creating a database and running "DB SQLS Backup Data and Log volumes" to create a backup.
