ServerTemplates

The following ServerTemplates use the latest v5 RightImages that come with RightLink installed.  Supports the execution of RightScripts and Chef Recipes.

MySQL 5.0 EBS v4 (Beta)

Description:  Configures MySQL database servers that act as either a Master-DB or Slave-DB. It's specifically designed for RightScale's Manager for MySQL-EBS. Storage of MySQL data will be done using EBS Volumes. EBS Snapshots to S3 are used for database backups. The MySQL EBS with striping is designed to increase disk performance. (Note: Please see AWS Forums topic "EBS stripe" for additional information.)

Ancestor:  MySQL 5.0 EBS v2 (Beta)

Supported OS:  Ubuntu 8.04, CentOS 5.4

Additional Documentation (if any):

  • Removed an unnecessary postrotate hook in the logrotate settings in the mysql_database_cron.log file.  The following RightScripts were updated: DB EBS continuous backups v1 [rev 11], DB EBS continuous backups v2 (Beta) [rev 7], DB continuous backups v4 [rev 5], DB continuous backups v5 (GoGrid Alpha) [rev 3]   (w-3390)
  • Bug Fix: Previously, the "EBS stripe create (Beta)" script would not exit with an error message if an EBS stripe volume was not created.  A failure message is now properly displayed.  (w-3382)
  • Bug Fix: initializeStripeSlaveFromNonStripeMaster will now throw an error when required environment variables are missing. d_b_utils.rb is no longer too dependent on RS_DISTRO being exported. InitializeStripeSlaveFromNonStripeMaster may throw a timeout error for very large databases -- if this happens, you must manually run the script from the command-line.  Simply log into the server and run the following script:
/opt/rightscale/db/ec2_ebs/initializeStripeSlaveFromNonStripeMaster.rb \

--volume_size_multiplier $DB_EBS_SIZE_MULTIPLIER \ -l $DB_LINEAGE_NAME -m $MASTER_DB_DNSNAME --slave_dnsid $SLAVE_DB_DNSID \

-X $EBS_STRIPE_COUNT
