The following ServerTemplates and MultiCloud Images can be found in the MultiCloud Marketplace. (Design -> MultiCloud Marketplace)

Reminder: ServerTemplates are typically released one week after the new release of the RightScale Dashboard.

Terminology:

  • alpha - Feature that has undergone simple testing and is expected to change, possibly significantly, before going into "beta" or "general release."  Recommended for early access to new features and prototyping of new deployments/architectures.  Only eligible for limited technical support. Service Level Response times are not applicable to Alpha software.
  • beta - Feature that has undergone significant testing and is not expected to significantly change before "general release."  Recommended for non-production deployments.
  • general release - Feature that has undergone testing and field experience or is a minor upgrade from prior releases.  Recommended for production upgrade after testing.  (Also known as general availability (GA).)

 


Chef-based ServerTemplates

MySQL (Chef Alpha)

Description:  Chef-based ServerTemplate that configures MySQL database servers that act as either a Master-DB or Slave-DB. It's specifically designed for RightScale's Manager for MySQL. Database Snapshots to Amazon S3 or Rackspace CloudFiles are used for database backups.

RightScript-based ServerTemplates

Tomcat6 FrontEnd v9 (Beta)

Description:  Configures an instance that acts as a load balancer with Apache and mod_jk. It creates an entry vhost (http) and forwards requests to the specified application port to serve your web application. Can be configured for HTTPS traffic (SSL).

Description:  Configures a Tomcat application server running Apache with mod_jk.

MySQL 5.1 EBS v2 (Beta)

Description: Configures MySQL database servers that act as either a Master-DB or Slave-DB. It's specifically designed for RightScale's Manager for MySQL-EBS. Storage of MySQL data will be done using EBS Volumes. EBS Snapshots to S3 are used for database backups. The MySQL EBS with striping is designed to increase disk performance. (Note: Please see AWS Forums topic "EBS stripe" for additional information.)

WARNING: Do not mix MySQL 5.0 with MySQL 5.1 servers and snapshots unless you fully understand what you are doing. Restoring from snapshots created on a different version will cause corruption. Make sure you use distinct DB_LINEAGE_NAME settings for MySQL 5.0 and MySQL 5.1 deployments. Mixed master/slave setups are not supported.

LB Apache+HAproxy v9

Description:  Configures an instance that acts as a load balancer with Apache and Haproxy. No 'application' processing is installed. The Server acts as a load balancer that forwards requests to the registered backend application Servers. It creates an entry vhost (http) and forwards requests to the specified application port to serve your web application. Can be configured for HTTPS traffic (SSL).

RightImage Creator - CentOS (Beta)

Description:  This ServerTemplate is designed to build your own custom image that has similar functionality to a typical RightImage published by RightScale. Advanced users should use this ServerTemplate to create images in order to achieve regulatory compliance or to accommodate difficult licensing issues that are otherwise not satisfied in the standard RightImages published by RightScale. You are welcome to clone and edit a copy of this template to build your own RightScale "enabled" images. Note that by doing so, you are assuming support responsibility within your organization for both the image and ServerTemplates that use it. For more information on using custom images with RightScale, please read our best practices guide.

Standalone RightScripts

Description:  Checkout the sources from an s3 tarball. Skips the update/retrieval of code if the bucket and package are not set.

MultiCloud Images

The MultiCloud Image name also denotes the type of image (AMI) that it's mapped to and whether it's a traditional S3-based image or an EBS-based image.  EBS-based images will include "EBS" in the name.  For an exhaustive list of all published MultiCloud Images, go to the MultiCloud Marketplace (Design -> MultiCloud Marketplace -> MultiCloud Images).
