MultiCloud Images are RightScale components that serve as maps or pointers to the specific machine images.  The MCI determines into which cloud or AWS region you can create a definition for a Server.   For example, when you add a Server to a Deployment, the ServerTemplate's MCI will determine which image will be chosen and inherited based upon the selected cloud or AWS region.

RightImagesTM are publicly available base AMIs that are published by RightScale.  They are designed to give you exactly what you need to build a stable Server in the cloud, but also give you the control and flexibility to customize each image depending on your machine's requirements.  Any published RightScale ServerTemplates leverage our RightImages.
