The following new features have been added to the RightScale Cloud Management Platform. Be sure to read the documentation, follow best practice principles, and thoroughly test any new functionality before making any changes to your production deployment.
RightScale is enabling SAML 2.0-based Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality for Enterprise Plan customers who request this feature. This, combined with our provisioning API, allows for full identity federation including syncing with Active Directory. In addition, we have tested this functionality with our partners Okta and PingIdentity so that you can use their (and similar) SaaS-based Identity Providers. For more information, see Getting Started with SAML.
Our partner Okta is offering a limited time free trial of their product, enabling automated user management, provisioning and de-provisioning of users based on Active Directory accounts, to the first five beta users. Contact sales@rightscale.com for more information.
Based on feedback from some of our largest customers, we have created a new Enterprise Report Manager that can:
Save common reports for repeated or scheduled use
For example, if you have three accounts that belong to one department within the organization, you can use tags to roll up the usage of those three accounts into a single report. Alternatively, if you tag all the production deployments across your organization, you can roll up all your production costs, regardless of department.
For more information, see Report Manager.
The Review Docs and Tutorials Widget (which replaces the Getting Started Help Widget) displays once logged into the Dashboard. This widget links to the RightScale Getting Started Guide, video tutorials, and tutorials and guides from our Support Portal.
The Launch a Server in Your Cloud Widget, which replaces the AWS Quick Start Macros Widget, displays once logged into the Dashboard. It contains a list of ServerTemplates related to your cloud provider(s) and lets you "Import & Launch" a ServerTemplate from the MultiCloud Marketplace directly into your deployment. A search field also exists below the list of ServerTemplates that lets you directly search the MultiCloud Marketplace.
If your account is not connected to any clouds, the widget will display a "Start Here" icon which, once selected, will prompt you to connect to your public or private cloud accounts.
The Server Arrays page (Manage > Arrays) now supports an "Items per page" selection as a "Filter by" option. You can select 20, 50, or 100 Arrays to be displayed when searching for Server Arrays.
This was replaced by the Review Docs and Tutorials Widget.
