The following new features have been added to the RightScale Cloud Management Platform. Be sure to read the documentation, follow best practice principles, and thoroughly test any new functionality before making any changes to your production deployment.
The algorithm for weighted arrays has been improved in regards to the handling of availability zone / datacenter weights in the auto-scaling to avoid long-term imbalances in actual instance counts.
For security groups, there is now the option to create a description for a rule. The ability to create and view descriptions for individual rules gives a clearer picture of what a particular security group does, and thus easier to manage. For more information, see Create a New EC2 Security Group.
Token-based API authentication is now offered with our implementation of an OAuth-compatible authentication and authorization feature. This feature is currently in private beta, and will begin by allowing users to log-in to the API without a password and make authenticated requests. This is done by executing an OAuth Grant via the UI, obtaining an API access token in order to make API requests without logging in, and making OAuth-authorized API requests using the obtained access token. This feature is only available for API 1.5. For access to this private beta feature, please contact your account manager or sales@rightscale.com. For more information, see OAuth.
Architectural changes related to the new Inputs UI affected the tracking history available on the Changes tab of a deployment. As a result, the input change history is not available. Due to this feature's lack of use, we would like to gauge the demand to re-implement it. Please give us your feedback here.
