The following new features have been added to the RightScale Cloud Management Platform. Be sure to read the documentation, follow best practice principles, and thoroughly test any new functionality before making any changes to your production deployment.
Spot Instances are now available for adding servers to your VPC. When adding a server to a VPC, the Pricing option in the Server Details tab of the add server flow will offer the options of On-Demand or Spot Instances. If Spot is chosen, you will be able to set your max spot price as well as view the current rates for spot instances for each Availability Zone within the chosen AWS region.
New provisioning calls have been added to the API. Enterprise customers now have the ability to create child accounts through the API. You can configure clouds for a child account using a new resource called "CloudAccounts." For more information, see RightScale API 1.5.
Configuration of ServerTemplates and MCIs through API 1.5 has been added. This is part of the ongoing effort to recreate Dashboard functionality of ServerTemplates, MCIs and RightScripts. This release enables users to create, update, clone, commit and destroy ServerTemplates through API 1.5. You may also utilize a new resource called "ServerTemplateMultiCloudImages" to manage the MCIs of a ServerTemplate through the API. For more information, see API 1.5 Reference Documentation.
The ability to create, read and update Audit Entries is available through the API. Use this functionality to retrieve all the actions of a specified user within the past week. For more information, see API 1.5 Reference Documentation.
Support for setting meta-data fields in Rackspace has been added to the Dashboard. This allows you to configure hybrid hosting with Rackspace, connecting Cloud Servers and Managed Hosting by utilizing Rackspace components such as F5 load balancers and RackConnect. For more information, see Connect Cloud Servers to Managed Hosting Servers using RackConnect.
RightScale Compute Unit (RCU) reporting is now included in Usage Estimate reports. Please remember that these are estimates, and the final RCU measurement will be included in your month-end bill.
An "SSH Console" icon has been added to each running instance on the "Instances" tab of a server array, similar to the icons that are available next to regular servers. Previously, you would have to click on the instance to view the "SSH Console" button.
RightScale support for AWS Virtual Private Cloud now covers the v2 capabilities of VPC. For more information, see VPCs.
All new accounts created after this release will no longer have the capability to use "Basic Auth" for all calls. This also includes all existing Free Developer Edition accounts.
