New
Selecting the New action button creates a new IP Address. You are prompted for the Name of the IP Address. Click the Create action button when ready. A message from the cloud provider should confirm creation or display an error.
Note: The Name is typically the same as the actual IP address that was pulled from a pool of addresses. If the Name is not explicitly set we will set it to the IP Address automatically.

Index
Static, public IP Address which can be assigned to an instance. Attachable IP addresses typically come from a pool offered by the cloud infrastructure, hence assigning or reassigning to a different instance does not have severe lag times normally associated with DNS propagation.
Fields
-
Name - Name of the Attachable IP Address. This is typically the same as the actual IP address that was pulled from a pool of addresses. Click the hyperlink to see the address show page, revealing additional information. Although the Name can be any string, the default is to display the IP address. That is, if not explicitly set we will set it to the IP Address.
-
Address - Dot notation IP address that can be used by an instance. Use the link to view the IP in a browser tab/window.
-
Instance - The Instance using the Attachable IP Address. If this is blank, the address has not been assigned to an instance. If the instance is a Server, the name of the Server is displayed.
-
Resource ID - Resource Unique IDentifier for the Attachable IP Address.
Actions
-
Delete - Deletes an individual Attachable IP Address from the pool. You will be prompted for confirmation prior to deletion. Note: Although warned first, you can delete an Attachable IP that is in use. (That is, an IP Address that was previously associated with an instance.)

Show
The show page for IP Addresses groups additional generic information, cloud specific information, and date/time stamp data.
-
Info - Both generic and cloud specific data is displayed in the Info section. The data displayed here is fetched from the database, but could have originated and been set by RightScale directly.
-
IP Address - Actual IP Address for the Attachable IP.
-
Instance - Instance the IP Address has been associated with (or left blank if not assigned to an instance).
-
Created by - RightScale User that created the IP Address. Example: johndoe@example.com
-
Cloud Info - This section is specific to the cloud infrastructure the instance is running on. RightScale reports this on behalf of the cloud, but you cannot manipulate this data from the Dashboard (Please see your cloud provider documentation for more information. Note: The exact name of this info grouping differs, in that "Cloud" in the Cloud Info reflects the actual name of the cloud). Examples of cloud specific information that may be passed through from the cloud infrastructure are:
- When the IP Address was allocated
- Virtual Network and/or NAT information
- Domain for the IP Address
-
Note: In some instances, fields may be displayed but their values are not known. In this case the value of the field will be "- unknown - " in the Dashboard.
-
Timestamps - Critical instance timestamps (in the local TZ) are shown.
-
Created at - Time and date stamp when the IP Address was created (e.g. 2010-12-08 20:35:53 PST).
-
Updated at - Time and date stamp when the IP Address was last updated.
-
Deleted at - Time and date stamp when the IP Address was deleted. Retaining this information provides a useful paper trail.
Actions
-
Delete - Deletes an individual Attachable IP Address from the pool. Note: You will be prompted for confirmation prior to deletion.
