Alerts tab
The Alerts tab provides a high level overview of the RightScale Alert System, which consists of Alerts and Alert Escalations. All of the alerts across all of your deployments will be displayed. To determine where an alert is being defined (ServerTemplate, Deployment, or Server level), click the Alert's name and check the "Defined by" value. Note: A similar Alerts tab is visible at the deployment level. Alerts are categorized into three different types:
-
Enabled - The 'All' column displays the total number of alerts (not servers) that are currently enabled and being monitored on all running servers. A green ball denotes that there are no triggered alerts. A red ball is shown when an alert's condition is met and triggered on a running server. Red balls are only shown for triggered alerts (not servers). For example, if a single server has 5 triggered alerts, 5 red balls will be shown. Triggered alerts will be listed below along with their associated alert escalation, the state of the alert (enabled) and the length of time (min/hour/day) that the alert condition has been triggered. You can also view/edit the alert, as well as change the state of the alert. For example, if you are aware of the triggered alert and do want any action to be taken as a result, you can either temporarily disable (quench) the alert for 1hr or 24hrs, or permanently disable the alert by making it inactive. When an alert is either quenched or inactive, the alert's condition is no longer monitored and no alert escalation will be called.
-
Quenched - The number of alerts on running instances that have been temporarily disabled (quenched)(e.g. 1hr off, 24hr off).
-
Inactive - The number of alerts on running instances that have been turned off (disabled).
