You will need a New Relic account. If you do not have a New Relic account, follow the sign up instructions below. New Relic currently supports Java, Ruby, .NET, PHP and Python applications. To learn more about New Relic, visit their website and/or our New Relic partner page.
As a RightScale customer, you get New Relic Standard free of charge through our partnership. To sign up for your free New Relic accout, follow these simple steps:
Once you create a new New Relic Account, you will receive a API key and a temporary password. Make sure to update your password the first time you log in to your account. Once you have your API key, click the Use Existing New Relic Credentials button and enter your API key.
All new accounts start with a free 14-day trial of their Professional level of service. If you wish to upgrade to Pro you will need to contact New Relic. You cannot upgrade your New Relic subscription within the RightScale Dashboard.
Before you can see any data from New Relic in your Dashboard, you will need to add the appropriate New Relic RightScript to your ServerTemplates:
In the example below we will add the "APP New Relic RPM for PHP" RightScripts to a PHP application server:
Add the "APP New Relic RPM for PHP" RightScript as a boot script to the ServerTemplate that is being used to run your PHP application servers. This will automatically deploy the New Relic agent when a new server is launched with that ServerTemplate. (RightScale is the publisher.)
If your PHP application is already running on a server, you can add it as an operational script under the "Scripts" tab and run the action on the running server.
You will also need to define the following input value for the new script. You can either manually enter the key or create a credential for it.
After you've added the New Relic RightScript and the appropriate input value, New Relic can now monitor your application(s). To view your New Relic data:
