Overview

Deleting a subnet will remove the range of IP addresses that have been allocated to a network.

Prerequisites

  • 'security_manager' user role privilege in your RightScale account.

Steps

  1. Go to Manage > Networks and select the network with the subnet you would like to remove.
  2. Go to the Subnets tab and select the subnet you would like to remove.
  3. From the Actions drop-down, select Delete.

  1. A confirmation will display asking if you want to delete the subnet. You will not be allowed to delete a subnet if it is being used by a running instance. You will need to terminate the instance to remove it. When a non-running instance has a subnet and that subnet is removed, the instance will point to another subnet in the network. If your network does not have any subnets, the instance will reference the default network settings of the cloud.
  2. Click Delete
