Clone a Macro

Table of Contents

Note: Macros are available only in LCP. Macros have been deprecated and are not available in the Unified Cloud Platform.

Objective

To clone a Macro so that it becomes your own (Private) Macro that you can customize to suit your needs.

Overview

When you clone a Macro, an exact copy of that Macro and its code will be created.

Steps

  • Go to Design ->Macros.  Select one of the Macros that you would like to clone.
  • When you click the Clone action button, an editable copy of that Macro will be created.
  • You may notice a warning message that the cloned object will have its usage reported to RightScale.  This message is meant to convey the fact that RightScale is able to track the lineage of an object even if it's cloned.

By default, the version of a Macro will be incremented.  For example, if you clone "Macro v8" the new cloned version will be named "Macro v9".  Therefore, we recommend changing the name of the MCI to help better distinguish the cloned MCI from its ancestor.
