An alert escalation defines the action(s) to be taken when an alert is triggered. An escalation continues to be processed for an alert as long as the alert specification indicates that the alert is active. Alert specifications are evaluated every minute. If at any point in time an alert is no longer active, any escalation in process is terminated. If the same alert becomes active again a minute later, then the escalation is started afresh from the beginning.
Several of the most common alert escalations have already been predefined for your convenience. You can also create your own custom alert escalations.
