Create a VPC Subnet

Table of Contents

Due to RightScale Legacy Platform deprecation, this section covering Amazon Web Services Virtual Private Clouds (VPC) is no longer valid. Please see the Network Manager section for current information on creating and managing AWS VPCs.

Table of Contents

VPC will only be visible for paid RightScale accounts that have signed up for the AWS VPC service on Amazon.

At least one route table must be associated with a VPC's subnet.  When you create a new VPC subnet, the VPC's main route table is automatically associated with the subnet. However, you can modify the subnet and associate other route tables with it. Within a VPC, you may create a subnet where you will specify its parameters.

  • Go to Clouds > AWS Region > VPCs > Your VPC > Subnets > New
  • Fill out the following fields:

  • Name: Name of your subnet.
  • CIDR Block: Enter the same CIDR Block as the VPC.
  • Availability Zone: Availability Zone of your subnet.
  • Description: Description of the subnet.

Click Save.
