Attach or Detach a VPN Gateway

Objective

To attach (or detach) a VPN Gateway to your Virtual Private Cloud.

Background

Once you have created all of the network connection components you must attach the VPN Gateway to your Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). 

Steps

Step 1:  Navigation

  • Navigate to Clouds -> AWS US/EU -> VPCs
  • Select the Gateways tab

Step 2:  Attach VPN Gateway

  • Select the Attach action button  in the VPN Gateways -> Attachments column
    • Note:  You will see either an attach or detach action button depending on the VPN Gateway's current status.  See Step #3 to detach.
  • You should see a message similar to the following:
VPN gateway vgw-d7ad48be successfully attached to vpc-6fb14b06
  • The VPN Gateways -> Attachments column should progress from "attaching" to "attached"

This process can take a few minutes.

Step 3:  Detach VPN Gateway

  • Select the Detach action button   in the VPN Gateways -> Actions column
    • Note:  You will see either an attach or detach action button depending on the VPN Gateway's current status.  See Step #2 to attach.
  • You should see a message similar to the following:
VPN gateway vgw-d7ad48be successfully detached from vpc-6fb14b06
  • The VPN Gateways -> Attachments column should progress from "detaching" to "detached"

The process can take a few minutes.
