Objective
Associate DHCP Options with one of your existing VPCs
Prerequisites
- Previously created Virtual Private Cloud
- Previously created DHCP Options
Background
Note that DHCP Options are optional. If you do not create and associate your own DHCP Options with your Virtual Private Cloud, defaults will be used. In fact, you cannot specify DHCP Options when you first create your VPC. The default values are used. If you do not create and associate your own DHCP Options the following default values apply:
- Standard EC2 host name
- No domain name
- No DNS server
- No NTP server
- No NetBIOS server
- No NetBIOS node type
Steps
Step 1: Navigation
- Navigate to Clouds -> AWS US/EU -> VPCs
- Select the VPC you want to associate a DHCP Option with (most only have one VPC)
Step 2: Association
- Select the Edit action button
- Select the correct DHCP Option from the DHCP Option drop down menu
- Select the Associate action button
Your VPC will now use the information defined in the associated DHCP Options in order to assign IP addresses to Instances that are launched in that VPC.
