Upload Files to a Microsoft Azure Blob Container

Objective

To upload files to a Blob container in Microsoft Azure Cloud Storage service.

Prerequisites

Overview

Support for Microsoft Azure Cloud Storage in the RightScale Dashboard is currently in develpment. It’s recommended that you use a 3rd party tool to upload files to a container in Azure Cloud Storage.

Steps

Upload Files using CloudBerry Lab

  1. Download and install the client-side application. See CloudBerry Lab (Windows only).
  2. Go to File > Azure Blob Storage Accounts.
  3. Click Add and provide the required information to add your cloud account credentials.

  • Display name - Enter a name that will be used to identify this account. (e.g. MyProject)
  • Account - Enter the Azure storage account name. In the Microsoft Azure Portal, go to Storage > Account Name.
  • Shared key - Enter the Primary Access Key. (After selecting the account name, click the “Managed Access Keys” button at the bottom of the screen to view the access keys.) Note: Each Account Name will have a unique set of primary and secondary access keys.
  1. Click the Test Connection button to verify that the information you provided is correct.

  1. Select the Azure Blob Storage Account that you just created from the “Source” dropdown menu on the right side of the dashboard.

  1. Double-click the desired container. (e.g. sqldb)
  2. Navigate to the location on your computer that has the files you want to put into the container. Drag and drop the files over to the Azure Storage Account side.
