How can I manually force an AWS EC2 refresh in the Rightscale dashboard?

Table of Contents

Background

If something looks out of date, odd or suspicious in the Rightscale dashboard, we have the ability to force an Amazon EC2 refresh within the Rightscale dashboard. This will force our EC2 daemons to re-query EC2 for any current/updated states, statuses or other possible malformed or incorrect information.

Answer

To force a re-query of the dashboard, simply navigate to the Clouds -> (Region) -> EC2 Instances page.

Once you are there, you will see a very small 'query EC2' hyperlink at the bottom of the page, like so -

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is NOT designed to be used as a permanent solution or 'fix all' solution, but should be used only when needed as it can be resource intensive.

Still having problems?

If you are still having problems after performing a re-query on EC2, feel free to contact us by opening a ticket from within the Rightscale dashboard under the Support -> Email link in the top right corner or by giving us a call at (866) 787-2253.

You must to post a comment.
