This is a new feature that has undergone simple testing and is expected to change, possibly significantly, before going into "beta" or "general release." The use of this feature is only recommended for testing purposes and should not be used in production environments. Service Level Response times are not applicable to Alpha software.

This runbook is specifically designed for customers who are using RightScale's PostgreSQL Manager ServerTemplates.

• Database Manager with PostgreSQL 9.0 - Alpha

It assumes that you've already set up your database using one of the initial setup or migration tutorials.  See Create a PostgreSQL Database Setup. 

The runbook is organized in sections corresponding to the most common situations that you may encounter when managing your PostgreSQL databases.  To resolve common problem scenarios, identify and verify your problem, and then resolve those issues with a list of suggested solution recipes.  Links to solution recipes will be listed at the end of each problem scenario.

While inexperienced operators might need to consult the solution recipes detailed instructions to resolve the situations at the beginning, more seasoned operators will be able to quickly resolve them by simply looking at their names.
