Why am I missing a tag for a MultiCloud Image (MCI)?

Table of Contents

Background

When viewing the ServerTemplate or Server info tab, there is a red text that says there is a missing tag for the MultiCloud Image. This is causing the server to stuck in booting. You click the MCI and the following tag is missing:

provides:rs_agent_type=right_link

Answer

The RightScale Dashboard uses the MultiCloud Image tags to determine whether a given MultiCloud Image can be used to launch RightScale-enabled Servers and ServerArrays. The tag might have been corrupted during the initial import of the image. To fix this, you just re-import the MCI from the MarketPlace, search for the MCI name > open in the dashboard > import and that's it, go ahead and launch the server again.
