How do I manually start NFS?

Table of Contents
Background Information

You need to know how to manually start NFS.

Answer

All RightImages contain the packages to start NFS on the instance. You can do this via the following commands:

service portmap start
service nfslock start
rpc.idmapd start
service nfs start

You are responsible for properly configuring NFS and add directories to be exported to /etc/exports. You can find more information on NFS here: http://nfs.sourceforge.net/.

Note that RightScale also provides ServerTemplates for NFS servers:
